USA Hockey Staff Certifications
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Certification is also required.
All USA Hockey Requirements must be completed before participating in any team activities.
All fees associated are reimbursable for our staff. Please send your receipts to ftaber@aaabluejackets for reimbursement.
Steps to Become USA Hockey Certified
All coaches and managers are responsible for being up-to-date with all USA Hockey coaching requirements. To check your status, visit your coaching profile on the USA Hockey website.
PLEASE HAVE ALL OF THESE STEPS COMPLETED BY JULY 1, 2026
Team Managers are only required to complete Steps 1-3.
Step ONE
Register as a member of USA Hockey.
The cost is $59 total ($54 USA Hockey, $5 affiliate fee) for 2026-27. This fee will be reimbursed by the program upon submission of expense report.

Step TWO
Complete the background screening.
This is done securely through the National Screening Program. NCSI began working with USA Hockey in April 2020.
Cost is $30 plus any affiliate fees if applicable. This fee will be reimbursed by the program upon submission of expense report.

Step THREE
Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training.
This is required every year and you cannot be added to a roster until completed.

COACHES ONLY
Step FOUR
Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching.
Cost is $25 per module and only needs to be completed once per age level. This fee will be reimbursed by the program upon submission of expense report.
Modules must be completed prior to participating in any team activities. You cannot be added to a roster until completed.

STEP FIVE
Find, register and attend the required Coaching Education Program (CEP) clinic. The Cost is $65. This fee will be reimbursed by the program upon submission of expense report.
You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches start at Level 1. You can take clinics from June 15th-Dec. 15th each season. Click here to locate a clinic.
Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic requirements must be completed by Dec. 31 each season.
