OBJ begins road to Nationals with MidAm District Tournament this weekend

February 26, 2026

The road to the USA Hockey National Championships begins this weekend as seven Ohio Blue Jackets teams compete in the MidAm District Tournament. The event features the top-ranked teams in the district at each level, with the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Pens Elite standing as the only two organizations to qualify teams at all seven levels of Tier I in which OBJ fields a team.

District tournaments will take place across three cities: Pittsburgh (15O, 16U, 18U), Fort Wayne (13O, 14U), and Cincinnati (14U Girls, 16U Girls). Schedules, scores, and standings will be updated throughout the weekend at midamhockey.com.

Last season marked a historic performance for OBJ, with three teams capturing district championships and advancing to Nationals. Both the 18U and 13O teams reached the national semifinals, while the 2011 age group earned a bronze medal. The 14U Girls also made history, becoming the first girls team to win a district championship since the program’s reintroduction in 2022.
