
LeBel commits to Minnesota State
2004 born alumnus Mason LeBel has committed to play Division I college hockey for Minnesota State University beginning this fall.
A well rounded 6'3" forward, LeBel had a breakout season in 2024-25, scoring 31 goals and 60 points in 61 games with the Minnesota Mallards and St. Cloud Norsemen. He also led the league with 17 power play goals. LeBel was selected as a 2025 Top Prospect on the Central Division team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament and also served as an assistant captain for the Norsemen. In 3 full seasons in the NAHL, LeBel tallied 53 goals, 49 assists and 102 points in 166 career games.
A 7-year veteran of the AAA Blue Jackets program, Mason helped lead the 2004 squad to a Mid-American district championship at the 15O level and a semi-final appearance in the 2017 Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament. In 2021-21, he set career highs with 21 goals, 33 assists and 54 points in 54 games at the 18U level.
Located in Mankato, MN, Minnesota State is a perennial power at the Division I level. This past season, the Mavericks won both the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) regular season and playoff champions and advanced to the NCAA's National Tournament for the 10th time in program history. MSU has twice advanced to the Frozen Four and were national runners up in 2022. The program has won 9 regular season and 6 playoff conference championships at the Division I level since 2014.
