OBJ Announces Players of the Month for January

The Ohio Blue Jackets are proud to announce the program's January Players of the Month presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods. These awards are issued to one member from each team. Honored are student-athletes that excel on and off of the ice, demonstrate our holistic development model and represent the program's core values of process, respect, integrity, determination and excellence.
18U (2007/08) - Peyton Wolf
Peyton Wolf is in his second season with the program and has developed into one of the 18U team’s most consistent and reliable players. Through 50 games this season, the defenseman has totaled 5 goals and 20 assists for 25 points. A steady competitor with a team-first mindset, Peyton brings consistency and poise to the back end each time he steps on the ice. He has the ability to be a shutdown defender while also contributing offensively, earning time on the power play through his decision-making and hockey IQ. As the season has progressed, Peyton has continued to mature and grow into his abilities, playing some of his best hockey down the stretch. An 11th grader at Gahanna High School, Peyton is a strong student who approaches both academics and athletics with focus and discipline. His steady presence, competitiveness, and commitment to the team make him a trusted and valued member of the group, helping lead them to the No. 2 seed in this weekend's T1EHL playoffs.
16U (2009) - Adam Aiello
Adam Aiello is a consistent and reliable member of the 16U D corps in his fourth season with the program. A trusted presence in all situations, Adam consistently takes on the challenge of matching up against opponents’ top lines and plays a key role on both the power play and penalty kill. A true competitor day in and day out, Adam is always looking for ways to improve his game for both himself and the team. This season, he has added a more physical edge — delivering timely, crunching hits to complement his steady defensive play and offensive skill set. His leadership and reliability were especially evident during the team’s recent five-game winning streak, which included back-to-back overtime victories. Off the ice, Adam’s character and dedication have been just as impressive throughout his time with OBJ. A 4.0 student as a 10th grader at Gahanna High School, is a model the way leader that represents the program with excellence in the classroom and in the locker room.
16U Girls (2009/10) - Alyssa Habecker
Alyssa Habecker is in her second season in the program and first at the 16U level, where she has quickly become a trusted and versatile player. An extremely hard worker, Alyssa has been relied upon in all situations this season — contributing at both wing and center while also playing an important role on special teams. Her speed, tenacity, and relentless compete level make her a constant presence on the ice. Alyssa’s attention to detail and aggressiveness on the puck consistently create offensive rush opportunities and momentum for her team. She approaches every shift with purpose and intensity. Off the ice, Alyssa is equally impressive. A ninth grader at Midview High School, she maintains a 4.3 weighted GPA. She is also an accomplished artist in sketching, painting, and digital art, recently earning a Gold Key Award in the Scholastic Art Awards regional competition. Her winning piece will advance to the national competition in New York City later this year. In addition, Alyssa is actively involved in Scouting America, serving in multiple leadership roles within her troop. Alyssa’s dedication, creativity, and leadership make her a standout both on and off the ice.
15O (2010) - Anthony Brancazio
Anthony Brancazio has been a steady presence in net during his sixth season wearing an OBJ jersey. In the month of January, Anthony went undefeated with a 4-0 record, posting an impressive 1.50 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage, and one shutout. His performance played a key role in the team’s strong 5-2-1 month, helping secure their spot in this weekend's T1EHL playoffs. A strong student and dedicated athlete, Anthony leads by example with his work ethic both on the ice and in the gym. Though quiet in demeanor, his consistency, preparation, and competitiveness set the tone for those around him. A 10th grader at Olentangy Liberty High School, Anthony is a strong student and takes pride in representing his school and program the right way. Anthony also enjoys giving back to the game. He works weekly with the Blue Jackets Hockey League, mentoring and supporting young goaltenders — a reflection of his character and commitment to the hockey community.
14U (2011) - Luke Huffnagle
Luke Huffnagle is a steady and reliable defenseman in his fifth season with the program. After overcoming injuries earlier in his career, he has shown tremendous growth this season and has developed into one of our most dependable players on the back end. Through hard work and consistency, Luke has become a calming presence for the 2011 group. He has played a key role in helping shut down some of the top lines in the country while competing against one of the most challenging schedules in the nation while helping the team secure the No. 2 seed in this weekend's T1EHL playoffs. His poise, positioning, and willingness to do the little things right make him someone the team can always count on. Luke brings a strong work ethic to every practice and game, giving his best effort each time he steps on the ice. He will do whatever it takes for the team’s success and is one of the most coachable players on the team. An eighth grader at Olentangy Liberty Middle School, Luke represents the program with maturity, resilience, and a team-first mindset.
14U Girls (2011/12) - Mary Shoreman
Mary Shoreman is in her second season with OBJ and has been a strong, steady presence in net all year. She delivered a standout performance in the month of January, posting a .920 save percentage while stopping 102 shots in five games, leading the team to several key wins. Her composure was on full display at the CCM MLK Tournament in Boston, where she made 19 of 22 high-quality saves in a thrilling 4-3 victory over the 4th-ranked team in the country, securing the win with just two seconds remaining. No moment is too big for Mary—she consistently weathers momentum swings and gives her team confidence in the biggest situations. Beloved by her teammates, Mary provides a calm, even-keeled presence and is always supportive and encouraging to everyone around her. Her kindness and character inspire her teammates to compete hard in front of her every time she takes the ice. Dedicated to continuous improvement, she is fully committed to her team. A ninth grader at Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati, Mary earned First Honors and is is also a competitive lacrosse player.
13U (2012) - Jude Willison
In his first season with the program, Jude Willison quickly emerged as one of the 13U team’s most consistent and impactful players. He had a strong stretch in January, recording 6 goals and 4 assists in 11 games, helping him take over as the team’s top scorer with 19 goals, 21 assists, and 40 points, while also ranking second on the team in plus/minus. A powerful skater with a deadly shot, Jude is a consistent offensive threat who competes hard at both ends of the ice and creates opportunities for his teammates. Jude brings effort, intensity, and focus every game, making him difficult to play against. Beyond his on-ice performance, he is a respected leader whose character and dedication have a significant impact on the team. Coaches and teammates value his team-first mindset and consistent work ethic. Off the ice, Jude is an honor student at Immaculate Conception Catholic School. He volunteers for Bible school and plays travel soccer in the spring and fall, balancing academics, athletics, and community involvement. His combination of compete, commitment and character makes him one of the most trusted and valued members of the program.
12U (2013) - Jack Savickis
In his first season with the program following a family move from Texas, Jack has made an immediate impact on the 2013 team, helping lead them to an impressive 41-11-4 record this season heading into Quebec. In January, he recorded 4 goals and 15 assists in 14 games, adding to his season total of 28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points, along with a +54 rating and 38 blocked shots. Savickis also played a key role in leading the team to a championship at the AAA Prospects Cup in Buffalo. Jack demonstrates intensity in both practices and games, and his competitive attitude and relentless work ethic make him an impact player every shift. His versatility and ability to contribute in all situations have been instrumental to the team’s success this season. Off the ice, Jack excels academically and carries a 4.0 GPA as a 6th grader at Olentangy Berkshire Middle School. He also enjoys golf, roller hockey, and fishing, balancing his academics, athletics, and personal interests. His combination of skill, commitment, and leadership have made him a great addition to the OBJ family.
12U Girls (2013/14) - Charlotte Harpold
Now in her second season with the 12U girls team, Charlotte has been a consistent and versatile contributor, appearing in all 46 games this season. Playing primarily on defense, she is tied for second on the team in goals as a defenseman and was tied for most goals at the position in January. Charlotte scored a big goal in the championship game against the Kanata Rangers at the New Year's Challenge in Ontario and played a key role in the team’s defensive effort, which allowed just two goals over six tournament games. Charlotte excels at transitioning seamlessly between offense and defense, playing with grit, determination, and focus in every game. She holds herself to a high standard and consistently looks to develop her skills and make an impact whenever she is on the ice. Off the ice, Charlotte is a 6th grader at The Seven Hills School and a standout soccer goalie for Kings Hammer Girls Academy in Cincinnati. Her combination of skill, versatility, and commitment makes her a valued and respected member of the team.
11U (2014) - Grady Fairbanks
Now in his second season with the program, Grady has steadily developed into one of the team’s most reliable and committed players. He has received the "Player of the Game Hat" multiple times and continues to work every day to become a better hockey player. Grady has excelled in his defensive responsibilities, establishing himself as one of the team’s top penalty-kill defensemen and consistently doing what it takes to help the team succeed. His toughness and strength around the net make him a difficult player to play against and have helped the team become more disciplined and complete defensively. Grady is a quiet leader who leads by example, bringing intensity, focus, and a consistent work ethic to every practice and game. His dedication to improvement, combined with his team-first mindset, has a positive impact on everyone around him and sets a standard for younger players to follow. Off the ice, Grady is a 6th grader at Kenton Ridge Middle School and has maintained all A’s this school year. In addition to hockey, he plays soccer and baseball and is actively involved in 4H, completing a variety of projects and demonstrating leadership and responsibility.
10U (2015) - Ben Roehrenbeck
In his rookie season with OBJ, Ben has shown consistent improvement and has quickly become a key contributor to the 2015 team. In 11 games played in January, he recorded 6 goals and 3 assists with a +8 rating, accomplishing this during one of the team’s toughest stretches. Ben also had two separate three-game point streaks, demonstrating his ability to consistently produce offensively. Ben competes hard every day and brings a positive attitude and infectious energy to the rink. His love and passion for hockey are evident each time he steps on the ice. A great teammate, Ben is always encouraging and supportive, pushing those around him to improve while proving to be a handful for opposing teams. Off the ice, Ben is a 5th grader at St. Matthew School and maintains high marks in all of his classes. He is responsible, proud of his faith, and demonstrates maturity beyond his years. In addition to hockey, Ben enjoys playing flag football and baseball. He is a great representation for his team and the OBJ program.

With an every day mission to develop our student-athletes to reach their potential on and off of the ice, the program aims to provide a healthy and safe environment for the elite player to grow as a player, person and teammate through the great game of hockey.
